. In the metro

It was my first day in Paris. I had a strange feeling, I was sad but also happy. It’s difficult to explain. They say you have to experience it to understand. Yes, something like that.

I had a bag on my back. It was heavier than me. It was heavy, but not because of its physical weight. The weight was spiritual.

For in this backpack I’d put my dreams, my hopes, my future, my projects, my childhood, my family’s expectations. Perhaps that’s why I found this bag so heavy.

I was in the metro. I knew where I was going but not how to get there. I was lost. Yes, I was lost amongst crowds of people. It was bizarre. Where were all these people going so fast and at the same time? Were they trying to catch up with their dreams ? I was amongst crowds of people whose hopes were in the bottom of their bags. I was travelling towards a better tomorrow, a more peaceful future.
